Newcastle are poised to complete the £8.5million signing of Anderlecht defender Chancel Mbemba,  but doubts remain about the player's age. The Magpies will sign the Congolese international on the understanding he is 20 years old. However, it has long since been reported that Mbemba has four birthdays, ranging from 1988 to 1995.

Mbemba once stated in an interview that he believed his birthday was around 1990, which would make him 25. The centre back began his career in his homeland, where his date of birth was registered as August 8, 1988. By the time he came to sign for Anderlecht in 2012, his new birthday was stated as August 8, 1995.

However, during qualifying for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, Congo registered him as a November 30, 1991 birth. And to add to the confusion, Mbemba himself has been quoted as saying he was born in 1990.

Newcastle, however, are said to be relaxed about the situation surrounding a player they regard as the best defender in the Belgian Jupiler League. He will follow Anderlecht team-mate Aleksandar Mitrovic to Tyneside after the striker joined in a £12.5m deal earlier this week.

Former Apprentice star Stuart Baggs has been found dead. The 27-year-old, who was known as The Brand, was discovered by police at his apartment on the Isle of Man where he has lived most of his life. 

A police spokeswoman said the cause of death was "unknown" but there was "nothing to indicate that his death is criminally suspicious at this time".

Police were called to an address on Central Promenade in Douglas - which was owned by Stuart at 9am this morning.

He was the youngest ever candidate when he appeared on the BBC One show in 2010, at 21 years old. He was best known on the show for funny one-liners including "Everything I touch turns to sold" and "I'm Stuart Baggs the brand".

Stuart who is from Plymouth has an office in Tower House, Douglas on the Isle Of Man where he works as managing director of BlueWave Communications.

In an interview given last week on his birthday to Business News the entrepreneur appeared excited as he geared up to launch his company's latest product -BlueWave's landline-free Superfast 4G Home Broadband. He said: "Over the past few years we've achieved something truly magical. From humble beginnings, our company has grown to support more than 4,000 customers.

"I'm 27 today but as usual I will be putting in an 18-hour day," he said. The dedicated businessman continued, discussing his typical working day: "I work, as my hair will tell you, at least 18 hours a day. I sleep for four hours religiously, I would not have it any other way, like Margaret Thatcher'."

He added: "Work gives me a buzz but I always feel there is more to do. As to the future we are already working on that."

Stuart last tweeted just 23 hours ago talking about the launch, which took place yesterday, writing: "Making headlines with our new 4G LTE home broadband network."

Just last year, he made over 5 million pounds in his business and hoped to make more this year.

British Prime Minister, David Cameron, has given a strong warning to migrants in Calais, saying Britain will not become a “safe haven” for them.

The statement was made after hundreds of desperate migrants continued their attempts to reach the UK.

The Prime Minister said that the UK was doing all it can, to make Britain’s borders secure.

Mr Cameron made the comments after people gathered for a third night at the fencing at the channel tunnel freight terminal.

More than 3,500 people have tried to get into the tunnel terminal this week.

Several hundred migrants were escorted away from the terminal by French police on Wednesday night; the third night of large-scale attempts to storm the terminal.

As night fell, the road towards the Channel Tunnel  came alive. Groups of 10 or 12 migrants, moving steadily along the darkened highway, jackets pulled close, hoods up.

After a day of discussion in Paris and in London over how to secure the tunnel entrance and fresh deployments of riot police, the determination of Calais’ migrants seems unchanged.

The fresh attempts came, despite the death of a man, believed to be a Sudanese national and aged between 25 and 30, on Tuesday. He is thought to have been crushed by a lorry.

Nine people had been killed attempting to cross the channel in the past month.

Speaking in Vietnam during his tour of South East Asia, Mr Cameron said that the French had sent an extra 120 police to Calais and the UK was investing in fencing and security measures at the channel crossings in both Calais and Coquelles.

“Everything that can be done will be done to make sure our borders are secure and make sure that British holidaymakers are able to go on their holidays.”

The Prime Minister acknowledged the situation was “very testing” because there was a “swarm of people coming across the Mediterranean, seeking a better life”.

“But we need to protect our borders by working hand in glove with our neighbours, the French and that is exactly what we are doing,” he said.

Some northern senators from the All Progressives Congress (APC) who were among the 81 senators that appended their signatures to the vote of confidence passed on the Senate leadership led by Senator Bukola Saraki on Tuesday, have denied working against the interest of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Addressing journalists in the National Assembly, the Chairman Senate ad-hoc Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Dino Melaye, described any report of that nature as baseless and unfounded.

“I want to say without fear or favour, without interference with the job of (Committee on) Ethics and Privileges where they said complains have been referred to, that it is wicked, it is satanic, it is unacceptable for anybody to infer, talk less of ascertain or alluding to the fact that those who endorsed the leadership of Senator Bukola Saraki in the Senate and other principal officers are against Mr President,” he said.

He maintained that the members and leadership of the 8th Senate were committed to moving the nation forward by ensuring the success of President Buhari’s programmes and policies.

The Chief of Army Staff (CAS), Major General Tukur Buratai, has approved the postings and appointments of 334 officers of the Nigerian Army.

They include some Principal Staff Officers at Defence and Army Headquarters, Corps Commanders and General Officers Commanding, as well as other commanders.

The postings and appointments affected 37 Major Generals, 57 Brigadier Generals, 128 Colonels, several Lieutenants Colonels and others.

Some of those affected by the redeployment are the General Officers Commanding 1, 2, 3, 81 and 82 Divisions, Operations Pulo Shield and Safe Haven of Niger-Delta and Plateau State.

The redeployment is as follows:

Major General S. Yusuf, General Officer Commanding 82 Division is now Chief of Training and Operations at Defence Headquarters

Major General M.A. Koleoso is now Commander TRADOC

Major General S.N. Muazu moved from 2 Division to the Headquarters Infantry Corps and appointed Commander

Major General M.T. Ibrahim, from Department of Army Standard and Evaluation to Nigerian Defence Academy and appointed Commandant

Major General L.K.J. Ogunewe is now the Chief of Policy and Plans

Major General F.O. Alli is now Chief of Training and Operations

Major General A.A. Salihu is now Chief of Logistics.

Major General A.G. Okunola, who is now Commander of Operation Pulo Shield (JTF).

Major General T.C. Ude, Commander, Operation Safe Haven (STF Jos).

Major General L.W. Wiwa, now Deputy Commandant of Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre.
